What this is for

MUATOO is a place of work. What gets published here is real work, and the people who write to each other here end up meeting on a set, in a salon or in a house. That is what makes these rules more than decoration.

They are written for two moments: when someone is not sure whether something belongs here, and when we have taken something down and they want to know why.

Nobody pays to work

Asking money from people who apply to a casting call is forbidden, with no exceptions and whatever it is called: a test, a book, holding your spot, materials, mandatory training or an advance commission.

It is the most common scam in this industry and the reason the safety notice exists before applying.

  • What happens: the call comes down immediately and the account is suspended while we look at it.
  • If it is confirmed, the account is removed and not let back in.

Minors

You must be 16 or older to have an account, and of legal age to post a casting call.

No call involving nudity, underwear or lingerie is allowed where it could reach a minor, and no content that sexualises a minor in any way.

  • What happens: immediate removal and expulsion, with no prior warning.
  • Where it applies, it is reported to the authorities.

The work you post is yours

Only upload work you did yourself, and only if whoever appears in the photo gave you permission to publish it. If it was teamwork, credit the people who were there: that is what projects are for.

Posting someone else’s work as your own is what empties a portfolio of value, and here the portfolio is all you have.

  • What happens: the post comes down and you get a warning.
  • If it happens again, the account is limited: it stops appearing in the directory and in the feed.
  • Impersonating another artist — their name, their work, their city — is immediate expulsion.

Credits

A credit is confirmed by the person credited, not by whoever writes it. That is why they are worth something.

Confirming a false credit is as serious as adding one: whoever confirms is as responsible as whoever credits.

  • What happens: the credits involved are withdrawn and both sides are told.
  • If there is a pattern, both accounts are limited.

The verification badge

The ✓ on a profile says one thing only: that other people have confirmed that account’s work. Not that they pay, not that they post a lot, not that we like them.

It cannot be requested and cannot be bought. It is granted when the criteria are met, and withdrawn if they stop being met.

  • Confirmed email and a complete profile: name, photo, city, bio and at least one specialty.
  • Three confirmed credits on published projects, confirmed by at least two different people.
  • Thirty days on the platform.
  • No active measures.

How we talk here

You can criticise the work. You cannot attack the person who made it.

The difference is concrete: “that foundation shade does not work on that skin” is criticism; “you have no idea, find another job” helps nobody.

  • Harassment, threats, insults, unsolicited sexual content and comments about someone’s body: removal and a warning the first time.
  • If it happens again, or if there are threats: suspension.
  • If someone is doing this to you, report it from the conversation itself. The last twenty messages are attached so you do not have to tell it again.

Taking it outside

Insisting on moving to WhatsApp before anything is agreed is the most common sign of a fake casting call. It is not forbidden, but asking for contact details inside a public call is.

What is said inside MUATOO leaves a record and can be attached to a report. What is said outside cannot.

Spam and fake accounts

  • Accounts created to promote a product or service unrelated to the craft.
  • The same message sent to a lot of people.
  • Profiles with made-up details or someone else’s photos.
  • What happens: the account is limited or removed depending on the case, and the content comes down.

What we do when someone breaks the rules

Measures go from smaller to larger, and we pick the smallest one that solves the problem. Not all of them start with a warning: anything that puts someone at risk is stopped first and explained afterwards.

  • Warning: we tell you and nothing else happens. It is recorded.
  • Removal: we take down a specific post, comment or casting call.
  • Limited reach: the account still works for anyone with the link, but stops appearing in the feed, in explore and in searches.
  • Suspension: the account cannot post, comment or write for a period. You can still log in and download your data.
  • Expulsion: the account is closed. Reserved for what harms people.

If you think we got it wrong

Any measure can be appealed by writing to [email protected] from the account’s email address. Tell us what was taken down and why you think it belonged here.

Someone other than the person who made the decision reviews it. If we were right, we explain which rule applies; if we were not, we undo it and say so.

Whoever reports is not exposed

The person reported is never told who reported them. They are told which rule was broken and what was done about it.

Reporting falsely and repeatedly is also a breach: the report cannot become the weapon.
